Bob Bob Ricard

January 28, 2015

Valentine’s Day is sneaking up on us very quickly and it’s easy to end up dining at the same old places you usually do, eating the same old food you usually order. So why not try somewhere different like Bob Bob Ricard? I visited last weekend and the luxurious Russian and British food is sure to please everyone, with truffles, champagne and lobster used unsparingly throughout the menu.

The entire restaurant is all booth seating, perfect for an intimate night with your other half. The dress code said ‘elegant’, so I slipped on my black jumpsuit and heels. It was a cold night so I made sure I had my Madeleine Thompson cashmere wrap over me.

Before we even got to our table we were greeted by a doorman, the host and then finally our waiter. Then the most exciting part of the night happened. I pressed the champagne button. A waitress appeared within seconds to take our champagne order and returned again almost as quickly with our bottle. Amazing.

I ordered the sole stuffed with lobster in a champagne sauce and my date ordered the hand-rolled pasta with mushrooms and truffle. Both were absolutely incredible. The side of caramelised carrots and parsnips were also cooked to perfection.

For dessert I couldn’t help but order the ‘Chocolate Glory’, a large gold ball filled with chocolate mouse, chocolate brownie, meringue and passion fruit jelly. When it arrived the waitress poured the hot chocolate sauce over the top, causing the dessert to slowly collapse and me to stare transfixed!

The whole design and layout of the restaurant severely added to our overall experience. It truly was like being transported back to what I can only imagine a swanky 1920s bar/restaurant would have looked like. Every detail was thought through, everything screamed Art Deco and luxury. If you haven’t been, I thoroughly recommend.
